Georges Hobeika (Couture SS12) Paris

23 Jan 2012
Couture Spring Summer 2012 Paris

For Spring Summer 2012, Hobeika’s use of fabric includes a skirt of seemingly shredded and torn pieces of fabric, like large dangling petals, and floral appliqués embroidered on the upper torso, travelling down the hem of a skirt. Its aim when applied on sheer layered silk was prettiness, which was also apparent in knee length pleated skirts.

Shoulders, in contrast, were structured to a sharp L, adding structure to the flowing chiffons and organzas.

Embroidery was seen throughout the collection, stark in flat origami pleats on the chest and then adding a controlled swing on a circle blouse.

At the finale, pleats created a protruding bustle on a wedding gown. The collection was apparently inspired by orchids--those flora that are at once both delicate and strong.
