Henrik Vibskov - Ready to Wear - Fall Winter 2012 - Copenhagen

Ready To Wear Fall Winter 2012 Copenhagen

His shows usually close Copenhagen Fashion Week with a breathtaking final – this time, everybody's darling Henrik Vibskov decided to set the tone straight from the beginning of the Autumn-Winter 2012 season and therefoer completely took the wind out of the sails of his competitors.

As usually, Vibskov guarantees a highly conceptual show, where set design means as much as fashion. The Danish born and internationally renowned designer impressed with a plain white massive drum machinery at the center of his “Shrink Wrap Spectacular” runway, where models would activate the beat by stepping onto foot pedals that trigger the sticks to hit the drum and thereby create an interactive sound system.

No need to say that the designer and passionate drummer of the band Trentemøller is expressing his love for music through this collection: jackets with drum like silhouettes on the back, shirts and jumpers with sound pattern prints or hat pieces that suggest sound shells – every piece of the show gets Vibskov's concept straight to the point.

To emphasize the random impact of the created sound, the designer used a so-called “space dyed knit”: a method where the string of heavy, thin or merino wool is dyed before the whole knitting itself, for an unpredictable result.

This said, white turns out to be a major element of Henrik Vibskov's collection – suggesting the “white noise” used as a percussion in eight-bit music, such as electro or house – while chaotic colorful pattern in hunter green, dark navy, bordeaux, orange an yellow set a contrast to the casual and simple shapes of the outfits.

Despite of this strong musical take on fashion, how could we accessorize this autumnal collection? “Just with coffee and cigarettes” according to Henrik Vibskov. We're fine with that.
