The Danish born and raised Anne Sofie Madsen, a former junior designer for the legendary Alexander McQueen; it is not a coincidence that her Autumn-Winter 2012/13 collection is pretty much all about a dreamy and sculptural silhouette.

Madsen debuted with her eponym brand in 2010 during London Fashion Week and turned out to be a brand new promising talent. When asked about her designs straight before her runway show in Copenhagen, the designer stated: “Horror is a key word and a polar bear is involved”.

This said, Madsen's silhouettes are not only about quirky and somewhat threatening elements that create a fantastical vision – they are also about setting a more minimal aesthetic through airy, bold materials.

Geometrical accessories and cutout outfits therefore fuse with softer color dégradés provided through heavily fringed skirts and dresses. A few copper colored splashes are adding a “do-it-yourself” tone to the dark eveningwear. Kaleidoscope prints and distorted knits are meant to be a wink to McQueen's influence on the designer.
