Helle Hesthave and Rikke Baumgarten form a preppy duo on the Copenhagen's runway. The starting point of Baum und Pferdgarten's autumn-winter 2012/12 collection is the subculture Mod of the late 50s and the early 60s.
Throughout the collection the designers are playing with preppy schoolgirl looks through feminine silk tops, pleated skirts and dresses, teddy vests, while adding their signature abstract print inspired by palm trees.
The Mod's most iconic pieces such as parka coats, short jackets, cropped trousers, A-line shaped skirts and slim suits are sported on the runway in a boyish way. Crispy cotton shirts and fine wool cardigans as well as boxy silk dresses in variations of nude, ligh grey, cognac and deep bourgogne emphasize the preppy silhouettes. Moreover, bright splashes of turquoise and lemon grass colored pieces set a fresh attitude on the runway. All in all, a true meeting between feminine and masculine elements.
