The Emporio Armani woman is taking the comfort route for next summer. This isn’t to say that she plans on wearing baggy clothes and sweatpants. Rather, designer Giorgio Armani turned to draping and layering of fabrics in feather light blends to create his collection, one that never sacrificed his minimalist style for that of simply informal fashion.

In Armani’s favorite palette of neutral hues, the designer created easy shorts, liquid silk slightly tapered pants and fluid asymmetrical tops that got some gentle structural support when paired with jackets that curved in slightly at the waist. They were all designs destined to feel as good as they looked.

One of the biggest themes of the show was the idea of wrapping the models up in fabrics. From dresses that were constructed out of a crisscross of textiles to create a textural charm, to tops covered in a layer of semi-sheer silk or the final group of shimmering dresses that came in A-line tiers of iridescent fabric- the clothing had a soothing grace.

If Armani’s goal was to, once again, produce a show that is the epitome of understated elegance then he obtained his objective with this collection.
