Seventies silhouettes, sixties prints, and eighties padded shoulders at Iceberg the Spring/Summer 2013 proposal was hard to define. Designer Paolo Gerani did not make his sources of inspiration very clear and one could only wonder if the collection spoke of a boho or a rock attitude.
The brand looked into its archive and went all the way back to 1974, which somehow clarify the strong references to Saturday night fashion fevers with maxi-beaded belts on the hips and mini frocks with a plunging décolleté. Models went down the catwalk in flare trousers, patchwork knitted tops, long floaty printed gowns, and maxi skirts and wedges with a plexiglass heel. There was not a main color palette; on some looks colors were clashing with others- some kitsch prints were mixing neutral and soft tones. Most of the knitted pieces were embellished with leather inserts and embroideries.
Not sure if it was a tour of the house’s archives that Iceberg offered during this show or if the whole collection just lacked focal points and a leading theme. However, it is up to everyone to choose a style and to decide to go or not go for padded shoulders and retro patterns.
