For his first show as the designer of the Mugler brand, David Koma went for a sexy clean slate.
Whipping away all of the bells and whistles favored by those who have come before him, Koma focused on slinky bodycon clothing that is always going to look great on a line up of top tier models like Karlie Kloss, Georgia May Jagger and Liu Wen.
As soon as the first look walked past, one editor whispered defeatedly, "I am going to have to start working out at the gym tomorrow." Yes, to pull off 95% of the outfits in this collection, a gym membership will be a requirement.
The show was dominated by monochrome looks in mostly black and white, with just a few orange flame-licked prints thrown in to turn up the heat a bit. This was sometimes paired with a contrasting baby blue shade which created a fire and ice dissonance in the designs.
The thread that linked all of these "cut with a scalpel" sporty silhouettes were lengths of corrugated metallic chain (think 80s era elastic watch bracelets). These encircled scooped out edges of dresses, were woven in and out of a waistlines or section off collars.
