The Italian fashion institution that is Salvatore Ferragamo was on top form yet again. For next winter the house, under the gaze of the exceptionally talented Massimiliano Giornetti, has prepared a collection that goes beyond its usual class. Unbelievably slick is what came to mind as the models walked down a ridiculously polished runway.
The show got off to a great start with the first wave of models donning beautiful winter coats and tailored suits. The eyes were also drawn to the collection’s unique shirt collars – at times over-sized, very sharp and very chic, as well as the varied mix of winter colors. As the show went on dark and light grays transcended into black followed by warm mahogany and maroon. The shades were further brought to life thanks to the range of fabrics and textures involved. Silks allowed for a sophisticated sheen while leather and velvet made way for an air of dominance.
As for the detailing this was immense, particularly when it came to the lapels of suit jackets and the collection’s accessories. The show saw the former appearing in dark brown silk that contrasted fantastically with warm mahogany velvet suits. We also witnessed many of the models wearing refined leather gloves while carrying cases perfect for fitting today’s ipad. Interesting man pouches strapped around the waists of fine models also made an appearance.
So, what thoughts can one take home from such a show? My response: A collection so immaculate and slick hence perfect for keeping up appearances!
